Robin Rhode and Leif Ove Andsnes: Pictures Reframed

In 2009 the Lincoln Centre commissioned Robin Rhode to produce ‘Pictures Reframed’, a visual sequence to accompany a performance of Modest Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ by virtuoso pianist Leif Ove Andsnes. Rhode’s video ‘Promenade’ 2008, which features in the ‘21st Century: Art in the First Decade’ exhibition, is closely related to this commission, using a sequence of animated geometric forms with which a solitary figure interacts as if a magician.
