Behind-the-scenes: Jana Sterbak ‘Children will show you art’ 2010

The Queensland Art Gallery is currently working closely with Jana Sterbak and children from our local West End State School to develop an interactive project for the ‘21st Century: Art in the First Decade’ exhibition. The project titled ‘Children will show you art’ 2010 included an invitation for the children to visit the Gallery and assume the role of ‘junior curators’. They went behind the scenes to visit the curatorial study, view historical works from the collection and curate a selection that will be displayed within a purpose-built, faux 19th century exhibition space. Young visitors to the exhibition will be able to record their own commentary and response to the artworks using small cameras built into glasses that capture a point-of-view perspective and audio.
