Behind-the-scenes: Xu Zhen ‘ShanghART Supermarket (Australia)’ 2007-08

Gallery staff are stocking Xu Zhen’s reconstruction of a typical modern Chinese supermarket. Fully stocked, but with empty packages, the installation is intended as an ironic and complex statement on the art world, hinting at the inflated market prices and voracious demand for contemporary Chinese art.
