Behind-the-scenes: The Tissue Culture and Art Project ‘Odd Neolifism’ 2010

The Tissue Culture & Art Project explores the use of tissue culture and tissue engineering as a medium for artistic expression. The project is hosted at SymbioticA — The Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts, School of Anatomy and Human Biology, The University of Western Australia. SymbioticA artists and researchers Oron Catts and Lonat Zurr are currently in the Gallery working with installation staff to arrange their installation Odd Neolifism 2010. The work features extraordinary specimens on loan from the Queensland Museum, Brisbane and the University of Queensland’s Zoology Museum, as well a bioreactor housing living cells.
